Was Hunter Thompson murdered?
This is not a current story but one I think of from time to time. A post on GLP last week stirred up the mystery again:

While investigating "gannon-gate" and writing a shocking expose', Hunter S. Thompson was eliminated by the powers that be. He stumbled upon a ring of gay prostitution and pediphilia engrained deep within the GOP...........used as a form of initiation into fraternal brotherhoods and later used as a blackmail device to keep information from the public. Hunter S. Thompson realized the ramifications of this info and told many close friends he felt he WOULD be killed over this and that they would make it look like suicide.
One must consider the weight of such a complicated initiation and blackmail organization.........what level of information is being kept from us that such a mechanism would be in place?
I submit that one topic could drive humans to use each other in such ways...........
An upcoming pole-shift that would doom all those not prepared for it............AKA us!!!!
How would you keep a single person from giving in to reason and leaking the info to the masses?
With FEAR.....SHAME.......DISGRACE.
Hunter S. Thompson should not only be held in esteem for his writing and outlook on life...........but should be revered as a HERO and justly so, a MARTYR!!!!

Omaha is not sitting well with me. I keep “hearing” the ad for the animal show from the 60's, Wild Kingdom, "Brought to you by...Mutual of Omaha". I think it’s more than the usual loathing for insurance companies.
I think there are a lot of bunkers there too, what used to be missile silos. The headquarters for the Strategic Air Command are based there and that's where Bush went immediately after 9/11.
Bush seems to have a big connection there so I googled him + Omaha and found out about this huge child sex scandal. Boys from "Boys Town" were being flown to Washington and elsewhere to attend sex parties for high government officials.

The above extract is from a popular fringe site known as Rumormill News. Although Purpleaura and I are familiar with it, until she came across this particular article we knew nothing of its founders and authors, Rayelan Allan Russbacher and her husband Gunther.
I’m sure many skeptics will scoff at the seemingly unbelievable story of murder, mystery and intrigue. I was enthralled by the third paragraph. We believed Purpleaura had uncovered the reason behind the ominous Omaha vibes. Covert operations will do it every time.
We spent the remainder of the evening researching this couple, excitedly emailing each other back and forth with new links on what we thought was fascinating information. Who would have guessed the unassuming and unpretentious state of Nebraska had so many skeletons in its closet? And why do I keep getting visions of the painting American Gothic?

This morning just before I woke up I heard "Hunter" quite loudly. I said to myself, “Well that must be because of all the Gunther talk. Gunther the Hunter”. I was wondering if his named was pronounced Gunter or Gunther, because if it was Gunter, then it was a really good rhyme. When I turned on the news the first thing I saw was Hunter Thompson killed himself. Poor bastard, he sure had a troubled life.

Hunter telephoned me on Feb. 19, the night before his death. He sounded scared. It wasn't always easy to understand what he said, particularly over the phone, he mumbled, yet when there was something he really wanted you to understand, you did. He'd been working on a story about the World Trade Center attacks and had stumbled across what he felt was hard evidence showing the towers had been brought down not by the airplanes that flew into them but by explosive charges set off in their foundations. Now he thought someone was out to stop him publishing it: "They're gonna make it look like suicide," he said. "I know how these bastards think . . ."
Hunter S. Thompson ... was indeed working on such a story.
Now check out this February 25 Associated Press story about Thompson's death. Sounds a lot like a professional hit with a silencer:
"I was on the phone with him, he set the receiver down and he did it. I heard the clicking of the gun," Anita Thompson told the Aspen Daily News in Friday's editions.
She said her husband had asked her to come home from a health club so they could work on his weekly ESPN column...
Thompson said she heard a loud, muffled noise, but didn't know what had happened. "I was waiting for him to get back on the phone," she said.
(Her account to Rocky Mountain News reporter Jeff Kass is slightly different: "I did not hear any bang," she told Kass. She added that Thompson's son, who was in the house at the time, believed that a book had fallen when he heard the shot, according to Kass' report.)

Thompson's family says he was not depressed, nor was he in enough to pain to kill himself. In fact, by all reports, he was quite happy. He was talking on the phone to his wife, getting ready to work on his column, when he decided it would be wise to kill himself, so that he could go out (we are told) while "still at the top of his form," even though this would mean not finishing his column or his expose on 9/11 (potentially the most important thing he would ever write) (?)...

This account says Thompson killed himself while sitting in a chair on his typewriter and yet the original account tells us that Thompson shot himself while talking to his wife on the phone in the kitchen. Why has the story changed and what is the significance of the word typed on the paper in light of the fact that Thompson said he would be 'suicided' before being able to release a major story on explosives bringing down the twin towers?

The pedophile sex ring eventually led to our discovery of Bohemian Grove. Apparently Hunter had been invited to the ultimate vacation destination of the sick and famous and was going to expose the crap going on there. When that story came out, the counterclaim was he willingly filmed a snuff movie.
There are dozens of videos circulating the net showing proof the World Trade Center towers were taken down with explosive charges. With the amount of video cameras in the world today, it was bound to come out sooner or later. “They” had to know that. Was this the story that got him killed? Terribly sad considering it’s been exposed anyway. Whether anything will be done about it is another matter entirely.
No, as overwhelming and tragic as the disaster was, I believe it was even bigger than that. I don’t know what for sure, but I’m leaning towards Bohemian Grove. Not just for what he may have been eye witness to, but for what he may have uncovered concerning future plans.

Now for the really creepy part, for me at least, especially considering Hunter’s son claims he heard a noise he thought was a book falling over when the gun went off. We’re constantly hearing noises around the house, some eventually are explained and some not.

We have a built-in shelf in the hallway that holds books and a few knick knacks, 4 or those being Rolling Stones bobble heads. Hunter Thompson started out writing for Rolling Stone magazine.
Last night on my way to bed I noticed a biography I have about Hunter Thompson had fallen over, knocking Ron & Keith over and pushing another book, Elvis & Me written by Priscilla Presley, over into some other books.
What is Hunter trying to tell me? Priscilla is a scientologist, maybe they killed him? Or maybe I'm supposed to contact the Rolling Stones? What if it was Ron and Keith? Nah, not Ron and Keith. Mick maybe, but not Ron and Keith.
